Pubs, restaurants, and cafes are more dog friendly than ever.
That is great news, right up until you are trying to relax and your dog is laser focused on the nachos at the next table, or lunging to greet every passing person.
This and more can make these outings anything but relaxed for us, our dogs, and the cafe staff. As we like to say, the only “chaser” we want comes with a beverage.
If we want to enjoy these fun but distracting environments with our dogs, we need to teach them how to do that successfully.

Pub Manners is an intermediate class.
We are building on foundations your dog already has. Here is how to tell if this is the right time.
This class is for you if…
Your dog is comfortable around people and other dogs, and you are ready to level up in the real world.
- Takes treats in the presence of other dogs and people
- Knows sit and down on cue
- Has basic leash walking skills
- Is comfortable around other dogs and people (not reactive)
- Has some experience settling on a mat at home
This class may not be right if…
If any of these describe your dog, starting here would set you both up for frustration. We have better paths forward.
- Your dog is reactive (barking, lunging, growling at dogs or people)
- Your dog has not yet learned basic obedience at home
- Your dog is highly fearful in new environments
- You are currently too busy to practice at home between classes
Honestly not sure which column your dog is in?
Most people aren’t, and the difference between “excitable” and “reactive” is hard to judge from your own living room. Describe what your dog does and we will tell you straight, including if a different program is the better start.
